It was a Busy Day in the Cafe

A cup of coffee with latte poured on top, the sound of jazz music in the air and the steam of brewed coffee accompanying the oxygen to breath through. The cafe cat yawned lazily; the fat feline has been decorating the counter ever since it was built five years ago.

Monstera planted on a white pot on the corners of the room, giving freshness to the room. The sound of ceramic cup hitting the little plate under it after the drinker took a sip heard every once in a while.

The wooden floor let out a small ‘tap’ every time a shoe heels touched the ground. The sound of flipped pages also accompanying the business of the cafe.

It was a busy day in the cafe.

The waiter served a cup of coffee on the customer’s table. Chit-chatting a little bit about the book the customer picked from the cafe shelves. Cookies were served along with a bottle of milk in case they needed an addition for their bitter espresso.

On the other side of the cafe, a girl was doing a croquis of the people outside the window. Her affogato melted on its glass under the hug of sun warmth. She flipped another page and made another sketch with her pen.

A student drank his macchiato frustratingly as he flipped his notebook, trying to find that one particular note that’s gonna help with his study. The cafe owner seemed to noticed his frustration and whispered to one of his waitresses. The next thing the student knew, a lemon cheesecake was slipped to his table, along with a note that said ‘good luck on your study!’. “The owner’s treat.” noted the waitress to answer his confused look.

Two elderly couple caressed each other hand lovingly. Waiting for their grandchildrens to get into the cafe. They have spent every year of their anniversary in the coffee shop ever since it was built. Cups of earl grey tea are served on each of their side. The tea that they drink on their first date decades ago. Not waiting long, their two adult children greeted them with their toddler kids. They hugged their parents and ordered lattes for both them and their partners. Their children were indulged with the freshly baked cookies and a cup of milk for each of them.

It was a busy day in the cafe.

The sun raised higher and higher from the horizon. The sky was clear without a cloud.

One of the waiters went outside as he noticed a sight of the small flower seller. On her hand rest a bunch of a little something of each flower. He bought two calla lilies for each table of the cafe and gave her a tip before going inside and put every two flowers on the vase of every tables.

It was a busy day in the cafe.

Where the waiters laughed amusedly when the other waiter accidentally spurted out the foam cream on his face instead of the cheesecake that he was about to be served.

It was a busy day in the cafe.

A mother knitted a scarf for the upcoming autumn for her daughter on the other side of the phone. The sound of the pen hitting each other and tangled on some places. “Can you come home on September, hun?” she asked hopefully. Whatever the answer was, the mother smiled to hear that.

It was a busy day in the café.

But everybody was happy.

And that’s one thing to be grateful about.
